Cow parsley, buttercups, daisies, bluebells and forget-me-nots, simple things can be so beautiful.

Waiting
I am so looking forward to Summer it seems to have been a really long Winter, and even though it's Spring I feel like we are still waiting for the warmer weather to start. I took these few photographs in a friends garden on the one beautiful day that we have had.

Sketchbook
Since starting the pastel drawings my work has been completely taken over by this linear shape that appeared by just letting my hand do what it naturally felt like doing.
I started working in a small moleskin sketchbook with pencil and graphite.
This more deliberate line lacked some of the spontaneity of the pastel drawing so I closed my eyes and did some blind drawings.
Starting to add colour, hopefully keeping the spontaneity of the blind drawings.

Pink and Green
The trees have been full with heavy blossom but sadly it is almost over, went out one more day to photograph. It has been so windy and the blossom has fallen and made a carpet on the ground. I picked up a windfall and thought about pink and green and blossom floating down from the trees.

One Year On
Exactly a year ago I did a short post on a blossom tree that is directly opposite my house. It is the very dark pink variety which flowers a little later than the pale pink and white varieties. I wanted to photograph it exactly one year on to see if it would be at the same stage of development, I thought the recent warm weather might have had some affect, but in the case of this tree it looks exactly the same this year as last. The only difference being that I have a different camera so was able to take slightly better photographs.
As a comparison here are two photographs from 2011.

First Blossom
My first photographs of blossom this year were taken last week on an extremely sunny day, it is a tree that I see every day from my bedroom window. I think it has flowered a little earlier than usual, but I might be wrong. Last year I first photographed blossom in April but that was a dark pink variety which isn't in flower yet.
