Blackpool

The only place I have been this year is Blackpool and even that was just a day trip. So I am trying to get the most of the photographs that I took, I also needed an update on using photoshop so here is my Blackpool montage.

Typographic Trees

I love these images which I came across whilst browsing the internet. They are the work of Gordon Young a visual artist who creates art for the public domain. They were made for a new library in Crawley West Sussex in 2009. The artist has created a forest of oak columns which stand floor to ceiling throughout the library. Information was gathered from library users on their favourite books, places and memories, this was used to generate the 14 columns, each column reflecting a different subject from gothic to romantic and sited in their relevant locations.

Emma Dunbar

I love the colourful paintings af artist Emma Dunbar. Her paintings are like collections of gathered ingredients, from travelling in India, holidays in Cornwall, glimpses of journeys and the decorative qualities of everyday objects. All these things are arranged together to create pictures that are atmospheric, capturing the essence of time and place.

New Work

Not sure were I am going with this but I made this small painting a few weeks ago and really liked it. Have tried to repeat this but it's not going to well. Thought I would post this anyway as I have been lacking in posts recently.

More Blackpool Photographs

I am still amazed as to how quiet it was in Blackpool on such a lovely day, I really like the photographs I took just need to decide what I am going to do with them.

Blackpool

Had a lovely day in Blackpool a couple of weeks ago and took some good photographs. The weather was lovely, but beacuse it was out of season it was very quiet which made it seem a little odd.

Fiona Millais

The work of Fiona Millais is based on the coasts of Cornwall and Scotland and are landscapes and still life which quite often appear together, creating a juxtapositon between the outside and the inside. She is intrigued by how landscapes are shaped and the traces left by our predecessors. Paintings are made after the completion of a journey and they evolve from drawings, memory and recorded thoughts.
