I started working in a small moleskin sketchbook with pencil and graphite.
This more deliberate line lacked some of the spontaneity of the pastel drawing so I closed my eyes and did some blind drawings.
Starting to add colour, hopefully keeping the spontaneity of the blind drawings.
Thanks for sharing your process. -sus
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment Sus, I find it useful to write the process down. However I missed one out, some of the blind drawings were done in the middle of the night completely in the dark!! It was interesting to try but, I only managed 3 nights even though I wake up most nights (I am a very light sleeper) I was just to sleepy to continue with it.
DeleteWonderful, wonderful wonderful! utterly adorable, covetable. Would love a dress made from the second bottom one!
ReplyDeleteThanks Niki, your comments are a real encouragement to me. I am working on some paintings now along with some more pastel drawings, however I think they may go into an exhibition I am having in September (if they are successful) so probably wont share the finished paintings until the exhibition has started. x
DeleteVery Beautiful Sandra and they remind me a bit of Cy Twombly's Rose paintings.

Thanks Jacqui, I have to admit Cy Twombly is a huge influence on me, I didn't intentionally set out to do something similar but, your influences are always there with you. I am feeling in a very floral mood at the moment and wanted to do something with a lighter feel now that the heaviness of Winter is over, so looking forward to Spring and Summer. x
Deletei love how inventive you are :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Claire, I do however have a tendency to jump around from one idea to the next without fully realising one thing!!
DeleteLove what you are doing Sandra... its way tooo long since i visited and so enjoyed pottering here. Watched a video on Squeak Carnath and went on quite a journey.

I haven't done a huge amount of blogging recently Sophie, just finding it hard to find the time. I love that video of Squeak Carnwath I really love the way she talks about her paintings. I can definitely recommend the book Squeak Carnwath Painting Is No Ordinary Object published by Pomegranate which accompanied the exhibition of the same name. Thanks for visiting, I know it's hard sometimes to find the time when there are so many blogs to keep up with :)
