Winter

Midwinter spring is its own season
Sempiternal though sodden towards sundown,
Suspended in time, between pole and tropic.
When the short day is brightest, with frost and fire,
The brief sun flames the ice, on pond and ditches,
In windless cold that is the heart's heat,
Reflecting in a watery mirror

  1. Nice photographs - I assume taken with the new camera? Your winter looks pretty warm and sunny (next week we are going to have up to -18C at night!). I like the 2nd one the most - although the sky is blue it feels as if it has been taking in the evening, before the sunset.

    1. It was a very sunny day, but it was quite cold for us, about 2C. And yes they were taken with the new camera which is taking a bit of time to get used to. Thanks for your comment.

  2. I love that you started this in what you describe as 'a dry period'. Your postings and images (photographic and paint) are inspiring. It is gratifying to find another eye and spirit inspired by the most ordinary of presences and moments that invite, but are so easily missed. I love the way you let yourself play and experiment, and think I will take up your 'night paintings' idea. I've done a few, but as a practice.... well, that is something I have not tried. I will return again, and soon!

    1. Thanks Marde for your very lovely comment, it is very encouraging for me to get such nice comments. Starting this blog has definitely helped with my creativity, and the night paintings are fun to do it is nice just to paint with complete freedom.
