Time Management

It is the start of my fourth week looking after Emily and the fourth week of my e course, funny how they coincided. We have had some ups and downs, getting her to take milk from a bottle was a little tricky but she seems to have got the hang of it, and nap times are well established so I can still get on with household chores and have a little breathing space. I was worried that once I was looking after Emily that my painting would suffer from lack of time but thanks to the course I am painting more, I hope when the course is over I can continue with the routine I have established, two full days painting and then extra painting sessions in the evenings. Interesting how there are some parallels in looking after babies and painting, from establishing a good routine to trying out new things like, baby led weaning and new ways of layering up paint. Unfortunately the one thing that has suffered from lack of time is my blog, so I just need to try and factor blog time into my routine. Took some more detail photos of my paintings in progress, I am working on three large paintings but none are finished yet, each of the layers are very transient so now only exist in a photograph. I love taking these close up shots, each one looking like an abstract painting.

  1. Gosh Sandra, I don't know how you do it but I am impressed and inspired that techniques in one thing can be applied to another. Nice parallels.

I cant wait to hear./see more about your e course. I could do with attending something like that. Let me know how it turns out and if it was useful.

Your close up shots are works of art in themselves. The painting you are working on look lush, but your photography skills are amazing too. Do you use flash or are you working in good day light?

Your busy schedule is obviously one you a thriving on, Im very impressed indeed. Look forward to your next post.

    1. Thanks Niki for your wonderful supportive comment, and sorry that posts are a little sparse at the moment, hopefully things will be back to normal soon. The e course is now over and I am just working on finishing two paintings, I thoroughly enjoyed the course it was the most fun I have had with paint for a while, I will do a post about the whole experience when the paintings are finished.

    2. I realised I didn't answer your question Niki about the photography. I try not to use flash because I find it can bounce of the paint and distort the colours, I don't have any fancy lighting either so I just rely on daylight but I do use some of the functions on my camera were you can brighten the photo and also select lighting conditions.

    1. Thanks Jacqui, I am currently working on three paintings that I started on the e course and I have a deadline of the 31st July if I want one to be included in the online gallery. So with that and looking after Emily there has not been much time for my blog. Hopefully I will get back to it soon.
