When I am working I always have a sheet of paper at hand to test out colours, marks and scribbles, how to harness this I don't know!!

Festive Greetings

I hope everyone is enjoying the festive break and taking a well earned rest, I love the few days between Christmas and New Year for me it is a time to relax, catch up with some reading and watching a few films.
I would just like to say a big Thank you to all my visitors and for all the comments you have left this year it is much appreciated. Wishing you all a wonderful festive season and a great 2013.

Small Paintings

Currently working on some small affordable paintings to put in my shop that I am hoping to open in the new year.

Oil, Pastel and Graphite on Paper

One problem I am having is photographing the work, the colours are not quite right, so if anyone has any tips I would be really grateful. The above painting is a little softer and more green.

Autumn Shades

I haven't taken that many photos this Autumn, the weather has been pretty dreadful, rain, rain and more rain it's been a bit of a grey year.

Night Paintings Series

A small series of watercolours inspired by my night paintings sketchbook. I am not entirely happy with them, I probably need to go back to doing some in the sketchbook to get the feel of painting in a more automatic and free thinking way.

They are still quite small, each painting measures 16x16cm and the colour representation is not great either it's been so dull here, it's really difficult to photograph anything.
Also, trying to tweak the blog a little so you might see it changing over the next few days, probably ending up with me putting back to how it was originally!!

Painting

A few things that have been happening recently, excitingly I have a few paintings in a small exhibition at the Waterside Arts Centre in Sale. The exhibition is in the gallery bar and is on until early December, all work is for sale. I have also finished three large paintings, started a series of watercolours based on my night paintings sketchbook and another series inspired by the seasons, and at last I have been on a printing course at Hot Bed Press in Manchester called Painterly Screenprinting, photos to follow in subsequent posts, but for know here is a little sneak peak.

Black and White

I went for a short walk today with the intention of photographing some Autumn colour, but came back with these black and white images instead.
