Easter Break

I often find that holidays offer up a little time for reflection and taking stock, yesterday I did a little studio tidying and took some photos of work in progress.

The grey/blue painting is the unfinished painting from a previous post, it has changed a lot with more changes still to come.

I love the way paint collects on knives, I like to let it build up and then I peel it off. I like the idea of making something out of left over paint, the pink painting behind my knives was a piece of board that I was using as a palette so I just had fun with the residual paint.

    1. Thanks for your comment Sophie, Yes Easter is always a lovely break probably because it doesn't require as much planning as other holidays. Unfortunately the weather here is a little cool, but still lots of springtime inspiration around.

  2. You know whenever I peek at your blog, my heart really jumps when I see your work, I really really love it, especially the cooler blue-grey palettes. Also enjoying your photography - the one with the palette knives is amazing, its even more 3D that real life!

    1. Thanks Niki, I love reading your comments they always make me feel better about what I am doing. I am not sure if the blue/grey painting is going to stay that colour, I am being a little indecisive unfortunately.

  3. Oooh I enjoyed that little peek of your studio. I never realised how large your paintings are. For some reason I had imagined them as much smaller. Love them even more now.

    1. Thanks Claire, some of them are small 30cm x 30cm, the paintings above are 60cm x 60cm, and at the moment I have two larger canvases primed and ready to go, both square, I am obsessed with squares!!
